All About Vero Beach

Vero Beach, Florida, is part of the Atlantic Treasure Coast, the area of the Atlantic ocean where eleven Spanish galleons carrying treasure for the King of Spain sank in 1715. Besides the treasure hunters that flock to the area, beautiful Vero Beach Resorts draw families looking for a quiet Florida vacation.

Because it has beautiful weather all year round, people vacation in Vero Beach during every season. Itโ€™s popular with multigenerational families because of the laid-back atmosphere and activities for people of all ages. The Treasure Coast is also popular for RVing and camping as well.

Youโ€™ll find beautiful beaches, miniature golf, many places to shop, and plenty of things to do outdoors. So, when you visit Disneyโ€™s hotel on Vero Beach, youโ€™ll find things the whole family can do at the resort and in the surrounding area. It’s also only about an hour’s drive to Kennedy Space Center.

And, Vero Beach is one of the best small beach towns Florida has to offer!

About Disney’s Vero Beach Resort

Disneyโ€™s Vero Beach Resort is a Disney Vacation Club (DVC) property. So, if you are a Disney Vacation Club member, you can book it with points, or you can pay for your stay if you are not.

The benefit of it being part of the DVC is that these rooms come with kitchenettes to enjoy your own food (or kitchens if you have a larger room.) You can book a studio, deluxe studio, or one or two-bedroom villas. Some even come with in-room laundry! And there are other amenities on the property, like grills, bicycle rentals, activities, and more.

The DVC location in Vero Beach, Florida, is a beautiful beach resort that helps you to get away from the stresses of everyday life. You can easily relax at this old-Florida-styled, classy resort.ย

The Vero Beach, Florida Disney Resort is spacious and offers all the comforts of home with a beautiful beach setting where the ocean is only steps away. Youโ€™ll find fun activities the whole family can enjoy and a signature Mickey Mouse-shaped pool to swim in.

Why Visit Disney’s Hotel on Vero Beach

Combining Disney with the beach, and you have a magical vacation that Ariel would love! This resort is quite different than Disney World or Disneyland. Itโ€™s nice that it provides a change of pace where you can lie by the pool or play on the beach.

Plus, with so much to do on-site and in surrounding Vero Beach, your family wonโ€™t ever get bored!

View of ocean at Disney Vero Beach Resort Hotel

Itโ€™s a different Disney experience that I think all beach lovers should try. The green water and soft sand are beautiful, and the environment slows you down and gives you the chance to enjoy slower-paced family fun.

The resort itself is also low-key. Though, that does NOT mean there isn’t plenty of fun and entertainment for the kids! Quite the contrary. Disney Cast Members and characters bring as much magic and pixie dust here as they do in the theme parks!

It is a great place to spend family time and get that Disney fix in a more relaxed way.

Fun Things To Do At The Disney Vero Beach Resort With Kids

Youโ€™ll find plenty of things to do at the Disney Vero Beach Resort. Here are some of the activities and attractions you donโ€™t want to miss.

Pool

Mickey Shaped Pool at Disney' hotel on vero beach florida

While you are at the beach, time at Disney’s Vero Hotel pool is a must. The Mickey Mouse-shaped heated pool one a sand-castle-themed 163-foot two-story water slide called Pirate’s Plunge. Thereโ€™s even a whirlpool spa for more relaxation.

Like most Disney resort hotels, there are life jackets available for use for kids who are not able to swim yet.

Disney Vero Beach Cast Members also lead pool-side fun and activities, like games, dance parties, bingo, and even hand out popsicles to kids! You might also get a visit from one of the hotel “celebrities” like Mickey or Donald!

Tiger Lily Wet Play Area

Little ones can splash around this pirate-themed play area that includes a mini water slide and water cannons. Itโ€™s located next to the main pool.

Port Holes Mini Golf

Right next to the pool is the on-site Port Holes mini-golf course. The pirate theme continues here at this nine-hole mini-golf course, which costs $5 for guests but is free for Disney Vacation Club member guests.

Atlantic Beach

The beautiful green water of Atlantic Beach is just steps outside your hotel door. You can rent boogie boards, jet skis, banana boats, sailboats, and kayaks for family outings. Beach toys are also available to rent. There are beach chairs and umbrellas available for guests. It is definitely one of the best Florida beaches for kids!

This area is also home to the nesting spots of sea turtles and other endangered, rare animals. You can see the nesting habits of leatherbacks, loggerheads, and green sea turtles.

Through the Disney Worldwide Conservation Fund, Disney has donated $1.26 million to sea turtle conservation efforts. The resort is very good with conservation in general which is an added plus.

In fact, one of the best things to do at Disney’s Vero hotel with kids includes learning about turtle conservation at the resort. It is one of the reasons the resort area is so dark at night – to allow the turtles to nest and return to see safely!

This idyllic beach is the perfect place to spend the day relaxing, playing in the water, or reading a book.

Tour Vero Beach on a Bycicle

Ebb and Flo Bik Rental and Shuffle Board at Disney's Vero Beach Resort

You can rent bicycles and other equipment at nearby Ebโ€™s and Floโ€™s Rentals, and this is also where you sign up for all Disney Vero Beach activities too. There are also local bike trails you can ride on with the family in a variety of terrains and environments.

Night-Time Family Activities

Campfire area at Disney's Vero Beach Resort

This is one of our family’s favorite things to do at Disney’s Vero Beach Resort. Several nights a week, the resort hosts a family campfire complete with S’mores! This event includes a sing-along geared towards children that a few Disney characters lead (who doesn’t love belting out a Disney tune?)

Thereโ€™s also a guided Sea Turtle Night Walk in June and July, where you use night vision to see turtles lay their eggs and cover them up.

Sport Activities

My sport-loving kids love the variety of sports activities at Disney’s Vero hotel. Kids can play basketball, bocce ball, archery, volleyball, scavenger hunts, and other activities. The resort also offers professional tennis lessons.

Fishing FUNdamentals

Fishing FUNdamentals is a one-hour fishing class where you learn the basics of freshwater fishing at the resortโ€™s private lake. Learn how to choose your hook and bait, tie knots, and catch and release fish. This class is for resort guests seven years old and up.

Disney Character Activities

Of course, no Disney Resort Hotel property can be without our beloved characters! Rest assured, even if you don’t visit the theme parks as part of this vacation, you can definitely get your Disney character photo while at Disney’s Vero Beach. These include:

  • Thereโ€™s Goofyโ€™s Beachside Character Breakfast at the Seagrape. Itโ€™s a Saturday morning breakfast with Goofy and Donald Duck.
  • The nighttime sing-along with Disney characters, as mentioned above, is also a favorite activity at this Disney Resort.
  • Youโ€™ll also find a pirate-themed dinner on Monday nights where you get to see Goofy and Donald in their pirate clothes.

Before you book your stay, youโ€™ll want to check and see which activities are available when you want to go.

Additional Cast Member-led Activities

In addition to the variety of activities above, you will get a schedule of events when you check into Disney’s Vero hotel. These can include a variety of events and activities, like crafts and kid-friendly events in the community room, pool-side events, etc. There are plenty of fun things to do in Disney’s Vero Beach with kids!

The Spa at Disney’s Vero Beach Resort

Of course, no resort could be complete without a spa. Unwind at the resortโ€™s spa, where you can get facials, body therapies, massage, waxing services, and much more.

Local Vero Beach Things To Do With Kids

If you decide you want to do something off-site, youโ€™ll find plenty of options. Thereโ€™s the McKee Botanical Gardens with a Childrenโ€™s Garden and the Garden Cafe where you can buy sandwiches and wraps.

Thereโ€™s also a modern theatre, Walking Tree Brewery, and the Vero Beach Art Club you can visit.

Or visit Round Island Beach Park. Riverside Park, Jaycee Park, and others where you can have a picnic. You can also go to the McLarty Treasure Museum that tells the story of the fleet of Spanish treasure ships that sank on the Atlantic Treasure Coast.  One of our favorites is the Mel Fisher Treasure Museum that tells the story about this modern-day treasure hunter and his incredible discovery!

Wabasso Beach Park is another great beach to try if you want to go to a beach outside the resort. It has picnic tables, grills, restrooms, parking, and other amenities.

Vero Beach is perfect for outside family activities where you can make fun memories and enjoy nature. This is one of the many reasons we love staying in Vero Beach, Florida.

Accommodations at Disney’s Vero Beach Resort

disneys-hotel-on-vero-beach-room

There are 18 villas and a variety of rooms to choose from at Disney’s hotel on Vero Beach. The resort has standard rooms and ocean view rooms as well as deluxe studio units. Or you can rent a one or two-bedroom villa that includes a small kitchen.

Some rooms have a garden view and others have an ocean view. But it’s all beautiful with wonderful amenities like wireless internet, online check-in, laundry and dry cleaning services, and much more.

Having a kitchen is definitely a plus, so you donโ€™t have to eat out every night. Youโ€™ll find grocery stores close so you can buy everything you need for your stay.

See a list of the hotel amenities here.

Dining at the Vero Beach Disney Resort

disneys-hotel-on-vero-beach-wave market

The resort has several dining options adults and kids will love.

The Green Cabin Room

This nautical-themed lounge is the perfect place for dessert or cocktail hour. You can sit at the bar or at one of the tables that looks out onto the beach. The room is like being inside a Spanish galleon in the 1600s. Legend says that the Spanish ship, the San Martin, wrecked off-shore in this area in 1618.

Wind & Waves Market

This market is the perfect place to buy snacks (including Mickey-themed) to tide you over until dinner. Or you can pick up sandwiches, baked goods, and other light food you can eat by the pool.

But their most unique offering is the Mickey Whoopie Pies. You have to stop in for one of them (my kids love them!). There are also a few basic groceries here (pasta, peanut butter, cereal, etc.) for cooking meals in your room.

Wind & Waves Grill

This restaurant is the primary one for the resort. Here you can eat Florida seafood, local produce, and American fare. The restaurant takes same-day reservations, but if you can, the resort recommends you reserve in advance to get seats.

Wind & Waves Bar

And what resort would be complete without a pool bar? The poolside bar serves cold beer and mixed drinks to guests as they lounge.
